Those of us fortunate enough to experience the unconditional devotion of a pet know that the animals who share our homes and our lives are in essence, family. This is why we suggest regular visits to our Dutchess County veterinarian office.

Our Veterinary Services in Dutchess County

Because our goal is to keep your pet healthy and happy, we offer a comprehensive variety of services. These include:

New Pet Visits

When you bring your new friend home for the first time, we recommend a visit to our office for a quick wellness check. All of our wellness checks include such procedures as:

  • Evaluation of your pet’s appearance as well as ease of walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Examination for exterior parasites
  • Checks of teeth, hearing, and weight
  • Fecal test
  • Urinalysis
  • Complete Blood Count
  • Cardio/pulmonary checks
  • Toenail trim

A new pet wellness check also includes suggestions for making your pet comfortable in new surroundings, training tips, nutrition suggestions, and a plan for avoiding fleas, ticks, and heartworms.

If you adopted your new pet from an animal shelter in the area, bring your paperwork along when you visit.

STARTER VISIT FOR PUPPIES AND KITTENS- This is similar to our new pet visit as we address all points of a new pet visit. Additionally, puppies and kittens also need to begin their vaccinations. This is essential as the longer the wait for vaccinations, the greater the risk to your pup or kitty.

Spaying and Neutering Services

Our facility strongly advocates for spaying and neutering of all pets. This is a necessary step that helps curb the population rates of domestic animals. Both procedures are available to animals who are over eight weeks of age and weigh more than two pounds. Spaying female animals will typically take less than an hour, and neutering males is a procedure lasting less than a half hour.

While all surgical procedures have risks, we take every possible precaution to make sure your pet has a successful and uneventful surgery. Post-operatively, the greatest risk to your pet is inflammation or infection of the incision site. To guard against this, we will give you wound care instructions.

Diagnostics

Our office has cutting-edge diagnostic tools to help our veterinarians get all of the information necessary to treat your pet. Because the equipment in all in-house, you will not need to take your pet to a different facility or wait days for test results.

Emergency Care

We know that illness and accidents can happen at any time. To help our patients whenever a problem arises, we were involved in establishing the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley, which can provide emergency care in the off-hours. If your pet is experiencing an emergency, call our office, and our on-call vet will speak with you and make arrangements to meet you and your pet at our office.

Animals We Treat

While dogs and cats are the two species of pets we see most frequently, our office welcomes many kinds of pets. We have special treatment rooms with warming pads and lights for members of the reptile species. Small rodents such as mice, hamsters, ferrets, and guinea pigs and all feathered friends are welcome as well.

We ask that all patients are either in a pet carrier or on a leash at all times and are under your control.

All members of our staff are committed to giving your pet the very best care possible. Call us to make an appointment or if you have any questions about our services. We look forward to serving your pet’s needs. Regardless of size or species, we believe all pets are family!
